I live in the United States of America. America is known as the "Land of Opportunity!" A place where people who truly take advantage of the opportunities presented to them can live their personal and professional dreams. It’s also a land full of people who are not assertive. They sit around hoping and wishing. They sit around waiting and expecting something to happen. They constantly complain about their dreams not coming true. They want more, but they are not willing to work or sacrifice for what they want? That’s the difference between successful people and non-successful people.
An opportunity is a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something.
We "HOPE" and we "WISH," but hoping and wishing just means that we are waiting for something to happen. I know I have fallen into this trap.
The sad part of our current society is we are told to wish for things. We are told to hope things get better. The truth is... the lack of action doesn't make anything happen. Everyone wants the easy way out. They want the rewards for no work. The people who make things happen or have their dreams come true are called "Lucky!" Luck is when Preparation meets Opportunity. Preparation is a mental action we have to do daily. Are we really preparing ourselves to make things better? Are we taking the needed time make our wants and needs come true?
I'm not telling everyone to work 24/7, but when we have dreams that don't come true, they become nightmares. It's ok to be a dreamer, but everyday you fail to make your dream come true, the further out of reach it becomes. The more you dream about something, the further away it gets.
Things are tough, I know! But the world is the new "Land of Opportunity," we need to do what the great people in history did, we have to make things happen.
We all have list of things we want to do. Bucket Lists, Things to Do Lists, Vision Boards, Etc. For some people this is a nice start, but many never start. Starting the race in important, run the race and you need to finish!
So, my challenge to everyone reading this (me included), is not to wait for tomorrow to make your dreams (personal and professional) come true, start immediately! Share your ideas and visions with friends and family. Go after the opportunities that present themselves to you. If opportunities don't present themselves, create them.
Opportunities are made, they are not wished upon. Hope doesn't make them happen! Just remember, if you really want something you have to work hard for it and sacrifice to get it!
My advice for you…Go out and make things happen!
